It’s a fact. Water helps keep you healthy and happy!
Drinking enough water supports all those biological functions going on in your body. Water can help boost energy, alleviate hunger, and clear out what your body doesn’t need.
Does water taste great? Most of us probably agree. No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t taste bad, it just doesn’t taste…anything.
Our recommendation for adequate hydration is half your body weight in ounces every day.
The old "8 ounces, 8 times a day" rule doesn't take into account different body types, activity levels, climate, food preferences, or an individual's unique physiology. If you're 150 pounds, your target is 75 ounces. If you're 200 pounds, adjust accordingly, and so on.
That might sound like a lot (which is exactly what your body needs). What's really important is to do your best! Set a goal of improvement, not perfection and drink one more glass of water today than you did yesterday. You'll be a hydration champion before you know it!
Achieving your target ounces isn’t easy. It requires dedication; needs to become a habit. And a good way to make it a habit is to drink water that has a taste you enjoy.
You can do that by infusing your water with fresh fruits, herbs, and spices.
Natural foods and spices can give your water a touch of flavor, a tint of color, plus minerals and nutrients, like antioxidants and vitamins, that aren’t found in basic water. You can mix and match different fruits and herbs to suit your taste. We enjoy citrus, berries, cucumber, mint, basil, rosemary, ginger, and more. Try coconut water for a tropical vibe or try a touch of jalapeno for a spicy kick.
Your options are nearly endless.
Here are 10 super easy and super tasty recipes for fruit and herb-infused water. All you need is a pitcher, ice cubes, water, and your favorite fruits and herbs. Add your ingredients and ice into the pitcher, fill it with water, and let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour as the flavors you choose infuse the water into something delicious.
Enjoy your cool and healthy drink all day long and get those ounces! You can add more water as you drink it and use the same fruits and herbs for up to three days.
